Meet Our Veterinary Technicians & Support Staff

Kristin Miranda, CVT, Lead Veterinary Technician Kristin grew up in the foothills just outside of Berthound, Colorado.  She has always been a country girl and grew up with all kinds of animals such as horses, sheep, and of course, cats and dogs.  Kristin always had a love for animals and so it was no surprise to anyone when she decided to become a veterinary technician.  Kristin received her Associate of Applied Science degree at Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in December 2005.  From there, she took the National Certification Test and became a CVT.  Kristin has always worked in small animal medicine.  Right out of school, she worked at a small, general practice clinic in Golden, Colorado for about a year.  After having her first son, she decided to work nights at a large ER hospital and continued to do mostly emergency work and overnight treatment until June of 2010.  At that time, Kristin joined The Vet's Animal Hospital and has been here ever since.  She loves this clinic, with its relaxed and comfortable setting!  Kristin feels like the clients and patients are more like friends and family, rather than customers, and so that makes it really enjoyable for her to come to work.  She owns a few dogs and a few cats that she loves dearly and a couple of crazy little hermit crabs.  Between the animals, her two sons, her husband and her in-laws, she has one big happy family.  In her free time, Kristin always loves trying to improve her home by working on it and finding great items on Craig’s List or at garage sales.  However, her favorite activity is spending time with her family, whether going to the zoo, the park, or just hanging around the house.
Jean Sims, Client Service Coordinator After 34 years of being a stay at home wife and mother, Jean decided to give the outside job market a try.  She came to where her own pets had been lovingly cared for (over 20 years) and was hired. Jean worked part-time for 5 years and then took on the full-time position of Client Service Coordinator for the practice. Working at The Vet's Animal Hospital gives her the opportunity to give all of our four-legged friends lots of love and attention.  Jean has had dogs all her life and has always loved animals.  Tucker and Boomer became a part of her family 8 years ago. Tucker, a golden retriever, is hands down, one of the laziest dogs Jean says she has ever seen.  Boomer, a chocolate lab, still has the stamina of a puppy – just try taking them both for a walk!  In her spare time, Jean and her husband Mike of 37 years, love spending time with their 2 grandchildren, 3 sons and daughter-in-law. They also enjoy gardening, boating and fishing.
Jessica Espinoza, Veterinary Technician Jessica is a Colorado native who grew up in Thornton.  After graduating from Northglenn High School, she went to and graduated from Pima Medical Institute.  She has been working as a veterinary technician since 2007 and loves her job.  Helping animal is something that she has always loved doing.  Jessica knew that she wanted to work with animals when she was in kindergarten.  She currently has two cats, two dogs, and a rat.  While growing up she owned a variety of different animals such as ducks, chickens, hamsters, and even button quails.  Jessica  is currently studying to get her associate of science degree at Front Range Community College.  Upon graduating from Front Range, she plans to continue her education to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian.  Jessica loves reading, going to movies, reading, and hanging out with friends and family.
Aileen Chavez-Cano, Veterinary Technician While growing up in Chihuahua, Mexico, Aileen saw a lot of mistreatment and cruelty to animals and this created a desire in her to help poor defenseless animals by feeding them and providing them with shelter.  Since then she has always wanted to work with animals and help them in the most humane way possible.  After high school, Aileen enrolled in Pima Medical Institute to start on her path to working with animals.  While completing her program at Pima, she did an externship with us and we liked her so much that after she graduated we asked her to stay on as part of our team.  In the future she would like to work with the police K-9 unit or work in another capacity or job that enables her to defend animals against cruelty.
Brenna Sawyer, Veterinary Technician Brenna grew up in Yuma, Colorado, on a small family farm where she and her family raised all types of farm animals, large and small, as well as house birds and small aquarium fish.  She was a member of the 4-H group, The 4-Leaf Clovers, all throughout grade school and part of middle school.  Becasue of her love for working with animals, Brenna eventually enrolled at the Bel-rea Institute of Animal Technology and earned her associate degree of applied science in animal technology.  At home Brenna has a Great Pyrenees named Mary Jane Grace, a blue parakeet named Papa Smurf, and a Lionhead bunny named O.G.-1-Kenobi.  She looks forward to continuing her career in small animal practice, but eventually hopes to work with both large and small animals.  Benna loves this clinic and working with everyone!  Her favorite part of the day is being able to go to work at a job where she can help care for and love each and every pet that she sees!
